Proto-conversion system. Freightliner Corp, Portland, OR (10/97 to 02/99)

As a Senior Programmer/Analyst led -or- participated in EDI system development, Help Desk system maintenance, system conversions and SAP project analysis. Initial project was conversions for the acquisition of Sterling, the Heavy truck Division of FORD. This involved development of processes for transferring, importing and utilizing of the FORD data by FreightLiner Customer Service Reps. This included an ACCESS database and corresponding VisualBasic utility. Also involved coding & testing of Help Desk software (Expert Advisor language and VisualBasic).  This was done as part of maintenance and upgrade to the packaged system.  EDI system development involved analysis & standardization of EDI procedures and software.  This project utilized VisualBasic which used an ODBC call to a mainframe DB2 file for our data.  Also - Installing & maintenance of PC-based EDI software (EDIfecs).  In addition performed analysis for legacy financial application interfaces for in-house Parts Application to package (SAP).

As a Senior Programmer Analyst participated in development and maintenance of in-house and packaged systems. Claims Billing system. Expansion and support of PC based packaged system for Claims Billing.  This included daily transfers from local mainframe to PCs, then to remote mainframe. Responsible analysis, programming, and unit testing, training in-house staff for system testing and help desk operations.; VM ‘machines’, JCL and programs. Duties included PC software and hardware maintenance as well as mainframe components.

 

E/R system. Another project for this client was an Emergency Room Patient system, which included a mainframe to VAX to Mac transfer. Other systems maintenance.  The remainder of duties was filled by requests for reports, ‘fixes’ and basic changes on various mainframe systems.

 

Technical environment included: VMS (VAX), MVS (TSO) and VM (Xedit), inter-regional CICS, COBOL, EasyTreive+, Fortran, RPG II, and VSAM.  Also MacIntosh II (O/S) with PFX for communications, DOS 5.0 and Windows 3.1 running on Compaq 386 and IBM PS/2  utilizing Qbasic and MicroFocus COBOL.
