E-mail Fraud/Phishing
A rapidly growing form of Internet fraud is a practice known as phishing. Phishing refers to when perpetrators send fraudulent e-mail messages requesting confidential information. The information then allows the perpetrator to gain access to the victim's accounts and steal the victim's identity.
At Agent 420, we place a high priority on helping our customers protect their private information. Once notified of phishing attempts, we work with the appropriate authorities to shut down fraudulent web sites.
Protecting Yourself
If you receive an unsolicited e-mail requesting personal information and it appears to be from Agent 420, GraberInsurance.biz® or has the Agent 420 logo, do not respond.
Keep this in mind:
-
Agent 420 will not send unsolicited e-mail containing attachments or require customers to send personal information to us via e-mail or pop-up windows.
-
Agent 420 will send customers e-mail notification when there is a message waiting for them in their secure online inbox.
Agent 420 encourages you to practice good security habits:
-
Change your password regularly.
-
Sign off the web site once you have completed a secure online session.
-
When your computer is not in use, shut it down or disconnect it from the Internet.
-
Only provide your ID and password when your browser indicates an encrypted connection. An encrypted connection is normally indicated by an https:// in your browser's address bar in front of the address of the page you are viewing.
Reporting Fraudulent Activity
If you believe you are a victim of phishing:
-
Change your password.
-
Contact credit reporting services and have a fraud alert attached to your credit report file.
-
Monitor the activity in your account for a period of time.
-
Notify appropriate law enforcement agencies.
-
Report all suspicious contacts to the Federal Trade Commission through the Internet, or by calling 1-877-IDTHEFT.
